Simply, Complexly Human

All of us, so simple…

We eat, we sleep, we live.

We work to live, and work takes our life.

We breathe, we bleed, we try.

All of us hurting…

We feel, we hurt, we hide.

We hide the pain and the pain hides us.

We fake, we ache, we wonder why.

All of us searching…

We want, we hope, we strive.

Eternity in our hearts, mortality in our veins.

We seek, we dream, we strain.

All of us dying…

We’re born, we live, we die.

Time, it makes us, and time, it takes us.

We’re here, we’re gone, we live on.

All of us, so human.

So simple. So complex.

Trying…to be more than we are.

Dying…wanting only to live.

All of us, simply human…

Still His, still called, still loved.

Humans valued by God, a God who was human—

Still here, still risen, still love.
